Connecting with the water and understanding the various issues that the river Avon faces is essential for appreciating both its ecological significance and its role in local communities. The river, while a source of beauty and recreation, is also confronting challenges such as pollution, habitat destruction, and changes brought about by climate change. Engaging with conservation efforts and educating ourselves about these issues can foster a deeper connection to the river, encouraging us to be stewards of this vital waterway. By recognising the interconnectedness of our actions and the health of the river, we can work towards solutions that benefit both the environment and the society that relies on its resources.

In the last 12 years, we have been dedicated to clearing the river of plastic, tirelessly removing the debris that harms aquatic life and disrupts the natural ecosystem. Alongside this essential work, we have also been collaborating with Planet Patrol, an organisation committed to preserving our environment. Together, we have implemented various initiatives, such as community clean-up events and educational programs, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of sustainability and encouraging individuals to take action in their local areas. Our efforts not only contribute to a cleaner river but also foster a sense of responsibility towards protecting our planet for future generations.
The return of otters and beavers, among other wildlife, is a welcome sight, signifying a positive shift in the health of our ecosystems. These remarkable creatures play crucial roles in their habitats; otters help maintain fish populations, while beavers are known for their incredible engineering skills, creating wetlands that support diverse flora and fauna. As their numbers increase, we can also expect to see a resurgence of various bird species and aquatic life, contributing to a richer and more balanced natural environment. This resurgence not only brings joy to nature enthusiasts but also highlights the importance of conservation efforts that protect these vital species and their habitats.

Exploring the river to enjoy the vibrant wildlife is a thrilling experience, but it is equally important to respect and protect the delicate ecosystems that thrive in these natural habitats. As you navigate through the tranquil waters, take a moment to observe the diverse flora and fauna that call the river home, ensuring you maintain a safe distance to avoid disturbing their natural behaviors. Additionally, consider the impact of your presence by minimising any noise and leaving no trace, allowing future generations to appreciate the beauty of nature just as you do.
All the work we have done in the past wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing volunteers who dedicated their time, energy, and passion to our cause. These individuals have gone above and beyond, bringing their unique skills and perspectives, which have enriched our projects and initiatives. We thank you all!
